Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/105/5242
Date
[1460]
Description
Petitioners
John Dinham (Dynham), esquire, late of Nutwell in Devon.
Name(s)
Dinham (Dynham), John
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Nutwell, [Devon]
Woodbury, [Devon].
Nature of request
The petitioner seeks voidance of judgements against him made by the king's justices in Kent, by letters under the privy seal sent to the said justices, and recovery of lands and tenements forfeited by reason of the said judgement. He states that he has served the king dutifully and without any blemish for his lifetime, yet now by the malicious labour of certain ill-disposed and covetous persons has been indicted for various treasons, felonies, trespasses and other things specified in the articles of indictment.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Deliver to the lords.[On dorse] Let it be made as desired.
Note
From the reference to him as 'esquire' the petitioner would seem to be John Dynham (d. 1501), later Lord Dynham, and this petition would seem to date from the Yorkist parliament of 1460. Possible related commissions are CPR 1452-61 p.604 (4 March 1460), p.611 (15 March 1460), p.613 and p. 624 (both 22 June 1460).
