Nature of request
1) The petitioner states that in consideration of his service to the king's father in his wars in France and Normandy (in which he was grievously hurt and maimed) and for his service to the king in the same parts as in England for 46 years and more, and in compensation the king granted him 6d each day for his lifetime. On this consideration and by the assent of the present parliament, he asks that in the Act of Resumption made in this parliament provision be made for him.2) That this act extend not nor be prejudicial to the petitioner of a grant of 3d each day for part of the said 6d for his lifetime from the issues of the county of Devon, but that the king's letters patent made thereupon remain in force notwithstanding the tenor of the said Act of Resumption.
