Description
Petitioners
Saux Darabere, citizen of Bayonne.
Name(s)
Darabere, Saux
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
The petitioner seeks letters under the privy seal to the earl of Lincoln ordering an enquiry into certain matters, as he has been loyal to the king and all his ancestors etc. He shows that he was taken in Poitou by the people of the king of France during wartime and held there, and the earl of Lincoln (then the king's lieutenant in Gascony) granted Nicholas Durran the rights that he had in a house in Bayonne. The petitioner states that inasmuch as he was imprisoned by reason of the war, he was unable to defend his right and seeks letters to the king's tenants in Gascony to enquire into the truth of this matter and deliver his house (with appurtenances) that Durran acquired from de Lacy by false representation, which matter the petitioner wishes inquired into by the gentlemen of Bayonne.
Nature of endorsement
An order to the king's lieutenant in Gascony that he speaks to the petitioner and others ... determine the truth of the matter, and if it is found to be true as written ... then he is to have his prayer etc.
