- The petitioner seeks recovery of £31 in consideration of his estate and that it was acquired in no other way than by his own labour. He states that he is a poor fisherman and came to London and other places in England to provide fish called greenfish and fresh herrings for the city and other towns. The previous Lent he came to the city with greenfish that he sold there, and from the money received from the sale of the said fish the king's searchers seized £31 as forfeit to the king and rendered in their account to the exchequer, by reason of a statute that no gold or silver should be taken outside the realm, of which statute the petitioner was unaware.
