Nature of request
The petitioners seek a charter from the king through the authority of the present parliament according to the tenor of several clauses, dedicating themselves to defending the true faith, extirpating heresies etc., and for the support of the poor and the sick etc., and establishing for the petitioners certain perpetual liberties, rights and properties for their future maintenance etc., and for the building of the college; all to the perpetual use of the college.
