- The petitioners seek confirmation of the ancient rights of their franchise:1) They should not answer for any contract before the king's court of shipway except for matters that concern the crown, as of life and limb.2) They have the lands and tenements of freeborn people before wardship and marriage, which the chief lords have of their franchise, and the right to marry their persons, also as of their franchise.

- [On face] 1) The petition is granted as of contracts made from within the franchise; Let them have as is their custom. 2) 2) In respect of lands and tenements held of the king in chief ... the petition is granted. When matters concern other lords they do not have such ... in open court make right to one as of the other, when they are bound to speak.[On dorse] Petitions from the Cinque Ports with answers.
