The petitioner seeks recovery of Dungarvan Church, together with its associated chapels (or lands or rents to the value of the church) which were granted by the king's father to William Fitz John and his successors forever, for the provision of a prison in Cashel that cost 600 marks, and after which time Richard de Clare sued by a petition made under false representations in the time of the king's father at the parliament in York in 1321-2 in the absence of the archbishop, and the patronage of the church was seized back into the hands of the then king without warning, judgement, or due process. Then the present king granted the patronage of the said church to the earl of Desmond.1)

Irish petition for the archbishop-elect of Cashel.2) Scrutinize the process by which the advowson was seized into the king's hands; then answer the petitioner in the presence of king and council.3) Let it be ordered to the Justiciar of Ireland that he informs the king if he can be relieved of the place without cost, and on the value of the place and the expenditure, then inform the archbishop and chapter of these matters, and how the recovery of the advowson would damage the king, and proved by this information; certify [to] the king.
