The petitioner seeks recovery of a daily payment. He shows that King Henry granted by charter 4d. each day from Writtle in Essex, for the maintenance of two chantry monks for the souls of kings (both living and dead), in a place called Bedesmannsbergh in Writtle, from which money the said monks gave their service in the aforesaid manor until the time that Robert Bruce, King of Scots, wrongly had seisin of the manor, and afterwards the earl of Hereford.
