Nature of request
The petitioners seek damages and compensation, and that Robert de Wykford should come before the king's council, through whose discretion a remedy be ordered by law and reason. They show that the king ordered their boat to Bordeaux for wines, which encountered an enemy ship on the sea. They captured the ship and took it to Bordeaux where Wykford (by colour of his office), took the ship on the morning of 6 December 1374, wrongly and without reason together with 24 tons of wheat etc.
