- The petitioner asks for help and a remedy. He shows that his predecessors since time without memory have held a wood near Savernak forest, appurtenant to the manor of Clatford, in free and perpetual alms, which wood is all outside the ancient royal demesne, and from which the prior takes his profits through sales of wood etc. Now comes William de Claydon, lieutenant to Aymer de Valence, justice of the forest, and has taken the wood into the king's hands, and the prior and his tenants are heavily distrained and amerced daily, to the disinheritance of the petitioner and his church.
