Nature of request
The petitioner asks that on account of his great losses he be granted an allowance for his expenses. He states that the king ordered him to travel to Newcastle with other magnates on an embassy on 2 February 1321, to treat with the Scots upon certain points, and stayed nine weeks to his great expense.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the king and all his council that henceforth for the common profit of king and realm and of his bishop, that he should not travel so far from his bishopric that he if he should so suffer.Coram Rege.
