The petitioner states that by order of the king's council he was indicted for various wrongs and released on bail of 1000 marks, and he was taken to answer on another matter and ... of 20 marks for suit of the prison until he was released on bail ... before Robert Tresilian and his fellow justices and tried for all manner of wrongdoing when he was in North Wales, for which time the said justices have no power to charge him unless they hold a new enquiry ... machinations of the coven of David Craddock ... for the petitioner's indictment ... false accusations and conspiracies. By charter from King Edward the conqueror of Wales ... and confirmed by each subsequent king ... by which charter it was granted that none of his English burgesses ... by any Welsh enquiry, and he seeks release until ordered by the king's council ... and seeks writs and letters to the said justices to have his release as he is a loyal subject and an English burgess in the said country ... and examined before Robert Tresilian, who was the chief justice, ... and has sued for a long time to no effect ... he also seeks letters under the privy seal to [...] that [...] should answer before the king ... for the purchase of the aforesaid goods and chattels ... and not distrained ... sold to them ...
