Nature of request
The petitioner asks for consideration of the pardon that King Edward [III] (the king's grandfather) made in year fifty-one of his reign (1377), through which he pardoned all false imprisonments and ignorances, articles of eyre and all other things which shall fall in fine or ransom concerning the time before the espousal took place, and discharge the petitioner in this respect, having regard to the fact that the espousal has been annulled; and she is endowed toward the king, as she was at the time of her endowment. She shows that she was endowed in chancery after the death of John, her husband, with certain lands in the lordship and elsewhere in Shropshire. Because she was then espoused to Talbot (although the espousal had been stayed), it was ordered by writ to seize the lands she holds in dower of the king in order to make fine for the espousal.
