Nature of request
The petitioners seek confirmation of a charter from Edward III allowing them the right to practise their trade within the city of London. They state that the English tailors seek the repeal of the said charter in chancery, by reason of another charter to the effect that none others practise this trade in the city, for which they pay to the king and his heirs twenty marks each year, to which payment the foreign tailors have always made contribution, and that the English tailors pursue the petitioners from malice.
