Prior and convent of the Austin Friars of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Nature of request
The petitioners seek a letter under the royal privy seal inhibiting the vicar of St Nicholas Church until evidence is forthcoming from Rome of the truth of certain allegations made by him. They claim that their order has the papal privilege of immunity from all church suits. Matthew de Bolton is proceeding against them, alleging a papal counter-privilege.

Let them hold to the decisions of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Bishop of Salisbury and two other doctors in this business, to choose of the one or the other party, as at a future time set and agreed.
