The petitioner asks that Norton be expelled from High Ham church, which he holds falsely. He states that Thomas Weston was lately installed (by title and ordinance) parson of the said church in the diocese of Bath and long time established in peaceful possession. Now Robert Norton by false provision of the court of Rome faithlessly despoiled the church. Thomas appealed to the court of Rome and recovered against Norton by true judgement, but did not recover possession before a certain statute was passed.
Nature of endorsement
The king grants this petition with the agreement of parliament, nevertheless his wishes that it should not be an example and that the said statute should apply in all other cases.
