- The petitioners seek the king's aid in preserving their rights. They state that King Stephen founded their house and granted them certain lands to hold in franchise, and King Henry [II] and other kings added to their estates in like manner in perpetual alms, which lands the prioress and all her predecessors held peaceably and without challenge etc. And now the prior and convent of Holy Trinity in Norwich claim various rights in their estates, which usages the petitioners and their predecessors have never paid at any time previously. The Prior of Holy Trinity has summoned the petitioners to a Court Christian to the king's disinheritance.
