- The petitioners seek recovery of bullion taken to the Tower of London between Christmas 1391 and 24 June 1392 ... in coin from the royal mint for the buying of merchandise in Calais, discharge from bonds for the same and the reintroduction after 24 June 1392 of the usual customs of the realm concerning the importation of bullion into Calais. The petitioners show that in the parliament held at Westminster in 1391-2 it was ordered and agreed that all merchants shipping to Calais between the said dates should return to the tower an ounce of sterling for bullion to each sack of (pois et qappres). After 24 June 1392 certain customs of the realm have constrained the merchants to ship wool of their bond ... to the tower to their great cost and destitution, contrary to the tenor of the said ordinance.
