Chancellor and scholars of Cambridge University.

Nature of request
The petitioners seek commissions of oyer and terminer to enquire into various imprisonments, loss of goods, disseisins etc., suffered by them ... and that all indictments for felonies and injuries made against them should be made null and void.
Nature of endorsement
In answer to this petition the king declared before the lords spiritual and temporal in the parliament held at Leicester in the second year of his reign, how many riots, mischiefs, inconveniences, and many grievances within the universities of Oxford and Cambridge to their perpetual prejudice. For the good governance and conservation of the universities these mischiefs etc., require remedy, from the agreement of the lords that due provision and ordinance should be established by the advice of the same, of the same king and council summoned, and also the lords' clerks and other persons [deemed] necessary to this by the authority of parliament.
