Nature of request
The petitioner asks that by the authority of the present parliament he has chancery writs sent to the sheriffs of all shires in which William, Lord Clinton (deceased), held lordships, lands etc., and also livery of half the said properties etc., without let or hindrance until he has accrued certain sums owed to him, or until he is satisfied in the same sums by John, Lord Clinton. He states that at the request of William, Lord Clinton, he joined him in a bond to Elizabeth Clinton [his grandmother]. The sums owed have not been paid by either the executors of Lord Clinton or those of Lady Clinton, despite many other provisions and grants made by their executors etc. The petitioner delivered 114 marks as proved on record etc., and has been put to the loss of his livelihood to the sum of 20 marks and more. The petitioner stands destitute and unable to obtain a remedy through the common law.
Nature of endorsement
The king wills that there be order sent under his great seal to the feoffees of the late Lord of Clinton named in this petition that they make no release to the heir of the said lord of such lands and tenements as they were enfeoffed in manner and form as it is declared by this petition, until the time that the petitioner is satisfied of 114 marks contained in the same petition.
