The petitioners seek recovery of goods, lands and tenements etc., taken from them by malefactors and their maintainers who oppress the commons, and more prosecutions of these wrongdoers etc. They complain of great oppressions, mischief, imprisonments and the misappropriation of property etc., through malice, wickedness and conspiracy against the loyal commons by false indictments etc. They further ask that all bonds, securities etc., extracted under duress by such oppressions should be held at nought, likewise from 1 May 1381 (the time of the insurrection of the commons of England) and in times to come.

Richard II, King of England.
Note
The date of this petition is unclear. Its terminus a quo is 1381 (internal reference to the Peasants' Revolt, but it seems to date from after the reign of Richard II. A note on the guard suggests 1428 without reference; it is set here between the two dates 1381 and 1428.
