Nature of request
The petitioners seek urgent recovery in this present parliament of properties entrusted to them by the dead king as reason and good faith demands. They show that he granted to them (and Roger de Beauchamp who is dead) and their heirs in fee simple without any condition (i.e. as feoffees), all the houses, manors, lands, tenements, fees, advowsons, reversions, regalities, franchises, free warrens, etc., that the king's grandfather bought and had livery of seisin therein. At the petitioners' suit to the parliament at Gloucester in the quindene of Michaelmas 1378 it was declared that as the aforesaid gift was in fee simple without accusation before the gift, or upon the gift, or upon the livery, of any charges made to them etc., and after this they were in possession by the king's charters on record etc., agreed in the last parliament held at Westminster etc., and the present king's ministers have ousted the petitioners.
