Nature of request
1) The petitioner seeks expenses for the time he was continually with the present bishop of Norwich by the king's command in year one (1327-8) in France and the duchy of Aquitaine, of 3s 8d (per day) in France and 5s (per day) in England by order of the council until the time Despenser was interrupted in his visit to France and Gascony with the bishop of Dublin and the earl of Kent, and compensation for this interruption.2) The petitioner also seeks compensation for the time he was in France on the orders of the king (then in France) in continual negotiation to make the king of France do homage for the duchy of Aquitaine.3) The petitioner also seeks compensation by order of the king at York in January 1328, and stayed there until the end of the parliament by order of the king's council.
Nature of endorsement
Let him have expenses of 6s 8d per day by order of the treasurer and chamberlains of the exchequer and make account of his costs, and account thereof etc.
