Nature of request
The petitioners seek cancellation and annulment of letters patent from Richard II granting Bermondsey Abbey the hundreds of Brixton and Walton. They state that they have various franchises in their manors, lands, tenements and fees in the said hundreds in Surrey, which were granted to the Prior of Bermondsey in 1396-7, with return of writs etc., to the great prejudice of the petitioners' liberties and to the great harm of all the commons of Sussex and Surrey, contrary to the order of the realm.
Nature of endorsement
By the advice and assent of all the lords spiritual and temporal the king [is] to repeal the letters patent made to Bermondsey Abbey. Moreover, from the aforesaid advice and assent the king wishes that the statutes made in this case be set, held, and kept.
