The petitioners seek an amendment to an act of the present parliament or a fine confirming a certain lifetime grant made to Elizabeth. They state that King Henry [V] (father of the king) granted the petitioners by letters patent, when he was Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall, certain houses, manors, parks, burghs, vills, lands and tenements in the duchy of Cornwall for Elizabeth's lifetime. This parliament has confirmed all persons with annuities, day-wages, or lifetime offices by letters patent of the king's father, also from the time that the late king was Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and Earl of Chester, just as after he took the governance of the realm. In which act there is no mention of lands granted for life.
