Nature of request
The petitioners seek a letter of the privy seal to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer to search the rolls of Burton and Barton, and what is found due to the petitioners should be repaid them by the treasurer and chamberlains of the exchequer, or an allowance made notwithstanding any previous orders. They state that they brought their wool to Hull in the first year of the present king (1327), from which the king borrowed one mark per sack, and Burton and Barton (then customs collectors of the town) received the money and rendered their account at the exchequer and paid the money over.
Nature of endorsement
Let them have an order to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer to inspect the letters mentioned in the petition, and if the debt is still due then they are to make payment or convenient assignment.
