Nature of request
Roger Cok states that he purchased certain lands in Latchingdon and a marsh called Litebredeshope from Hugh de Lachyndon, and that the Escheator seized them into the King's hand, believing that they were held of the King in chief and purchased without permission. Roger sued a writ to have an inquisition held, which found that they were held of the Abbess of Barking. Roger and the Abbess ask that the King might remove his hand from the lands, and that the issues might be restored.
