Nature of request
The Abbot of St Augustine's, Canterbury states that most of his lands, rents and possessions were given to the abbey by Aethelberht, first Christian king of England, and by other kings before the Conquest, and that the charters and other documents for these gifts are becoming old and worn out. He asks that they might be confirmed.
Nature of endorsement
Coram domino rege.The charters and muniments mentioned in this petition are to be examined in Chancery, and the King is to be informed by the Chancellor.
