Description
Petitioners
William de Chirinton (Cheriton, Chirton), son and heir of Walter de Chirinton.
Name(s)
de Chirinton (Cheriton, Chirton), William
Addressees
King and council in parliament.
Nature of request
William, son and heir of Walter de Chirinton, states that he sued to the King and council in the recent parliament at Gloucester to have an allowance for various sums in the arrears of the farm from the time when Walter and his companions were farmers of the customs and subsidies throughout England, and it was answered that he was to account in the Exchequer for the farm and its arrears, and that he would have all due allowances: and if there was some difficulty about this, the Barons should bring it to the council. However, the Barons have done nothing, and William requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
This bill is to be sent into Chancery and there, when the other bill mentioned in this petition and its endorsement have been examined, as many and such writs as shall be necessary are again to be sent on this matter.
Places mentioned
Gloucester, [Gloucestershire].
People mentioned
Walter de Chirinton (Cheriton, Chiriton), formerly farmer of the customs and subsidies throughout England.
Note
The parliament at Gloucester referred to in the petition was held in October 1378. This petition would seem to have been presented shortly afterwards, perhaps to the next parliament, that of April 1379.
