Nature of request
The Prior of St Mary's, Coventry, states that half the town of Coventry is of the foundation of St Mary's, and is held by the Prior of the King in chief, and the other half was purchased by Prior William from Roger de Mohaut and Cecily his wife, paying them and Cecily's heirs a farm, which farm Queen Isabella has purchased from Henry de Cliff. He asks the King and council that no franchise might be granted to his tenants of Coventry, to his prejudice and that of St Mary's.
Nature of endorsement
The franchises granted to the people of the town of Coventry, which were repealed by assent of the whole council, are not to be granted again, nor are any others, without due process.
