Nature of request
Robert Fitz Ralph of Burton upon Stather, merchant, states that in the time of the King's father he was granted various writs of arrest to seize goods belonging to men of Flanders, for a robbery committed against him at sea, and that execution of these writs was granted; nevertheless, execution has been delayed for sixteen years. He has also been robbed again by the Flemings, and execution of this has been delayed for fourteen years. He petitioned the parliament held on the morrow of St Catherine in the present King's fourth year about this: his petition was endorsed 'Let the rolls of Chancery be searched for the sixteenth year of the reign of the king's father for the treaty made between the king and the count of Flanders, and the king summons those of his council to make a suitable remedy for the merchants', but nothing has been done. He asks that swift execution might be done for him, without further delay, or that he might be given the bailiwick of the West Riding in Lincolnshire, at the former valuation, until execution is done.A note of the petitioner's losses and damages follows.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio. The King is not yet advised about the execution. And with regard to the bailiwick of the West Riding, such bailiwicks are annexed to the counties, for which reason the said West Riding cannot be severed. And with regard to having some other grace from the King, he is to sue to the King.
Places mentioned

the West Riding [of Lindsey], Lincolnshire.
People mentioned

Note
This petition mentions the response given to a petition presented to the parliament held on the morrow of St Catherine, 4 Edward III (1330). It would seem likely to have been presented shortly after that, perhaps to the next parliament (September 1331).
