Nature of request
John de Burghcher states that he has sued a writ of scire facias concerning the manor of North Weald, as kinsman and heir of Hugh, son of Hugh Dessex, against Thomas de Holand and Joan his wife, who are claiming to hold the manor by gift of the King to Edmund Earl of Kent, whose heir Joan is. They have requested the King's aid, and the justices have stayed proceedings. John requests a writ to them to continue.

And on this matter a day has been given to Thomas de Holand and Joan his wife, to make a search in the King's Treasury for evidence for the King's right and their own, before the octave of Trinity next.This bill was sent into Chancery at the command of the lord King, for justice to be done on it.
