King.
Nature of request
[This petition is badly damaged and hard to read.] Roger du Brok states that although all those who come to parliament should be under the King's protection, both as regards their lands and possessions and as regards their bodies, one of the Sheriffs of London has sued in time of parliament, by colour of his office, to have half his lands and chattels, based on a recognisance made by him in Chancery, under coercion by Hugh le Despenser the son, John de Charleton and Thomas de Sibethorp. He asks that the writ by which he sued might be repealed or a remedy given to him.
Nature of endorsement
Nothing can be done.
People mentioned
Hugh le Despenser the son
John de Charleton
Thomas de Sibethorp.
Note
No date, but the mention of Hugh le Despenser suggests c. 1327, especially as the petitioner seems to protest that he was not one of his allies.
