Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/97/4809
Date
[? 1331-1332]
Description
Petitioners
Maud de Boun (Bohun), wife of Edmund de Bohun.
Name(s)
de Boun (Bohun), Maud
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioner states that in the last Eyre at Northampton she and her husband lost a suit concerning a water mill in Hardingstone, through the maintenance of Simon de Drayton. They had vouched to warranty William le Curteys of Brixworth and Joan his wife, who then sued to have their warranty, but Simon de Drayton had Maud's goods and lands at Barton Seagrave wrongly valued, so that she has lost more than she should, and her chattels have come into the hands of Simon de Drayton. She requests a remedy, that she might have another, more suitable, valuation made.
Nature of endorsement
She is to go to Chancery, and there she is to have what the law desires.
Places mentioned
Brixworth, [Northamptonshire]
Northampton, [Northamptonshire]
Hardingstone, [Northamptonshire]
Bartonhanered (Barton Seagrave), Northamptonshire.
People mentioned
Edmund de Boun (Bohun), husband of petitioner
William le Curteys (Curtis) of Brixworth
Joan [le Curteys (Curtis)], wife of William le Curteys
Abbess of Notre Dame Despres (De la Pre) outside Northampton
Simon de Drayton, knight.
Note
CFR 1327-37 p.337 is dated 8 December 1332: Maud is clearly dead at this point. CPR 1330-4 p.80 is dated 3 March 1331, and would explain her husband's absence. A date of 1331-1332 therefore seems likely for this petition.
