Addressees

Nature of request
The petitioners state that Robert de Cherlton, justice of Common Bench, and Elizabeth his wife, were seized of two thirds of the manors of Huntercombe and Eton in Buckinghamshire of the fee and right of Elizabeth, and that, because she died without an heir of her body, the manors passed to Elizabeth, Agnes and Margaret, her aunts. They were in peaceful seisin until they were forcibly disseised by Giles Frensh, William Matheu and other malefactors, who also carried off their goods and chattels, in aid of the claim of Maud, sister of Elizabeth de Cherlton, a nun of Burnham, whom they abducted. They ask that the malefactors and their abettors might be punished, Maud returned to her order, and their lands restored to them. They also ask that information and indentures might be received from John Cassy, William Gascogne, and Edmund Hamden, about the great affray made at the sessions at Aylesbury on this matter by Giles Frensh, Edward Burdaut, John Rounde and others.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to Chancery, and the Chancellor, by the authority of parliament, is to have the parties come before him in Chancery and there, when the matter contained in this petition has carefully been examined, and the arguments on one side and the other heard, what justice and reason, good faith and good conscience demand in the case is further to be done by authority of parliament.
