Reference
SC 8/96/4790
Date
[c. 1428]
Description
Petitioners
Margaret Breknam and Agnes Jakeman, ladies in waiting to Henry VI.
Name(s)
Breknam; Jakeman, Margaret; Agnes
Addressees
Commons of parliament.
Places mentioned
London
Nature of request
Margaret Breknam and Agnes Jakeman state that the £10 annual income they have been granted by the King's letters patent is not sufficient for their needs, and ask the commons to ask the King that these letters patent might be withdrawn and replaced by others granting them £20 annually from the fee farm of London.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Let it be delivered to the lords. [None on dorse]
Note
CPR 1422-9 p.455 is dated 1 December 1427 (the same date as no.1837 of C 81/688), and seems to be the earlier grant that the petitioners now find insufficient. It is hard to tell how long after this grant this petition was presented.CPR 1436-41 p.444, a grant for life of £10 annually to Agnes Jakeman and her husband Gilbert Par, in lieu of an earlier grant to her of £10 annually during pleasure, made on 28 February 1440, suggests that this petition was unsuccessful.
