- The petitioners ask that as they have many enemies, namely the Lord of Bergerac and others, one man might be appointed to protect and defend their bastide, and its honour and royal rights, so that such a remedy might be applied for the renting of the bailiwick that the people of Ste-Foy-la-Grande might no longer be oppressed by renters.
