Nature of request
The petitioners state that some question has arisen as to the legality of the foundation of the Hospital of Holy Trinity, Bristol, by John Barstaple, and ask that, by authority of the present parliament, it might be put on a firm legal footing, and that the Mayor and Community of Bristol might have full power to ordain for this hospital according to their discretions and according to the will of John Barstaple, that their ordinances, past and future might be considered valid, and that previous gifts and grants made to the hospital might be considered valid.
