Nature of request
Ralph Blenerhayset states that Lord Fitzwalter procured John Hawe to come to the house of Robert Chapeleyn to slay him, and, as he was not there, he took a horse belonging to him and gave it to Lord Fitzwalter. The next day, Lord Fitzwalter entered his manors of Frenze and Boyland, and with the help of John Hawe, compelled his tenants to attorn their allegiance to him, and made a feoffment to certain lords and other persons. He also went to Robert Chapeleyn's house and stole all his goods, and compelled the tenants of Frenze to bind themselves to pay their farm to him. Ralph is now afraid to enter that country, and asks the Council to order the Chancellor to summon Lord Fitz Walter to appear before him to answer on this matter and to find security to keep the peace, so that the petitioner may peacefully sue.
