Nature of request

Writ from Edward III to the Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, ordering him to instruct the Abbess of Burnham to appear before him on a certain day, to show evidence for her right in a case between her and Geoffrey de Bolestrod in the matter of certain tenements in Chalfont St Peter which he claims, but which she also claims as part of the manor of Bulstrode.

Nature of endorsement

John Mareschal, Sheriff.I instructed the Abbess of Burnham to be before you in Chancery on the day contained in this writ, according to its tenor, by John Knyght and Richard Ernald. And I inform you that long before the arrival of this writ I delivered the manor of Bulstrode with appurtenances to the aforesaid Abbess, on the authority of a certain writ of the King sent to me on this matter.
