Description
Petitioners
Elizabeth de Brianceoun, later wife of John Joce.
Name(s)
de Brianceoun, Elizabeth

Nature of request
Elizabeth de Brianceoun states that the King, in the eleventh year of this reign, granted the the wardship of two-thirds of the lands and tenements of John de Brianceoun, knight, and the marriage of his heir, under age and in the King's wardship, to John, Earl Warenne, and that Earl Warenne then granted the wardship and marriage to John de Triple, who granted them to Elizabeth and to John Joce, her husband. This wardship, together with the heir, has been seized into the King's hand, on the claim that John Joce was an adherent of Bartholomew de Badelesmere - although he has never been impeached or convicted of this. She requests grace and a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Because the wardship and marriaged mentioned in this petition were chattels of John Joce, husband of Elizabeth the petitioner, as is contained there, and this John was a rebel against the lord King, therefore the said Elizabeth is to receive nothing by this petition.
