Nature of request
John de Beauchamp states that he has been given the keeping of Bridgwater castle, which is in a ruinous state and in danger of collapse. He asks for a survey of the defects in the castle, and that someone else might be appointed as keeper: as he is so occupied by commissions for the King and in other ways that he does not have time to deal with this without great harm to the King and to himself.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.With regard to the defects, the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to ordain what is to be done.With regard to appointing another keeper, the King is to do his will.
