SC 8/94/4693
Date
[? 1381-? 1382]
Description
Petitioners
Jurors and Commonality of the city of Bordeaux.
Addressees
King of England and France and council.
Nature of request
1) The jurors and commonality request confirmation of Boneu in his position as justice of appeals in Bordeaux as he has loyally served in this office.2) Copy of letters patent of Edward III to Bonewe appointing him to be justice of appeals.
Places mentioned
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France]
Westminster.
People mentioned
William Boneu (Bonewe), bachelor or law
Edward III, King of England.
Note
The petition is dated speculatively to? 1381-? 1382 on the basis of the guard note, though no evidence is given to substantiate this. The petition is clearly early in Richard II's reign, and the hand of the petition and content suggest that it is a near contemporary of SC 8/94/4689, which bears an identical speculative date. The letters patent is dated in its dating clause to 3 October 1375 (49 Edw. III).
