Nature of request
[Petition in 6 parts].1) It is requested that all manner of obligations, submissions and condemnations made forcibly in the time of the last uprising at Beverley, and that restitution is made of all sums taken because of it.2) No lands, tenements, rents or services be charged for such obligations.3) All manner of offices made in this time be deposed.4) All neifs of burgesses are able to return safely without any manner of prosecution of rebels.5) That a commission granted to the rebels to acquit them of their evils and to prosecute those who were not culpable be repealed, and that any further commission should be made by foreign people.6) Many burgesses who have pursued writs and protections of the king, have sworn oaths not to pursue writs, protection or complaint made of them that are to the disadvantage of the king, and of those that have pursued and have made fine for the said pursuit those persons with other . . . of the town . . .
