Nature of request
Belyng requests a commission or a writ directed to the lord of Bergavenny [to cause] the prior of Abergavenny, Bergeveneye and Carpenter [to appear before the council] on the quindene of Michaelmas next. Belyng was presented by Richard II to the church of Abergavenny but was subsequently ousted by Bergeveneye and Carpenter who entered the church and took the issues. They have failed to appear at Westminster following writs directed to them.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be remembered that on 21 August 1400 it was agreed by the council that a writ be directed to William Beauchamp to make the prior, Bergeveneye and Carpenter come before the council in the quindene of Michaelmas next, and in case that the lord shall be able to be assured by diligent information that the writs mentioned in this petition were delivered to the prior etc.
