Nature of request
Ballade requests that the seneschal of Gascony and the Constable of Bordeaux that they make that he be served of the goods of the king's enemies and rebels on in another manner from the issues of the duchy until his lands which are in the hand of the French are returned to the king's hand. He has served the king with his men, and his wife is in the power of the French.
Nature of endorsement
Let a writing be sent to the seneschal and constable that they have regard for his losses and damages, and recompense him from the goods of the rebels and enemies.

The petition can be dated to between the fall of Bourg and Blaye to the French in 1339, and 1342, as the petitioner was granted lands of the king's enemies until his own land was recovered on 3 June 1342 (C 61/54, m.28).
