Nature of request
Bohun requests that his charter of confirmation be newly confirmed according to the purport of an earlier charter to Isabel de Brus. Henry III granted the manors of Writtle and Hatfield Broad Oak with privileges in the woods in the manors to Isabel de Brus in exchange for her portion of the earldom of Chester, subsequently this was granted to Humphrey de Bohun and Elizabeth his wife.1)

Let the charters be shown in Chancery and there viewed, and let the king by advised by his chancellor and he will command his will.2) Coram rege.3) The matter is of the special grace of the king to grant, and of no other because it touches his forest.

Note
The petition dates to 1307-1320 as the petition is clearly of Edward II's reign from internal evidence referring to a grant by Edward I to the petitioner's father and Elizabeth his wife, and can be no later than c. 1320 when Bohun moved towards opposition to Edward II's regime. It is likely to be a petition close to the latter end of this range of dates.
