Note
The king gave his assent to the election of Thomas de Packington as abbot of Burton (CPR 1272-81, p.424). However, the form of the document clearly identifies it as an eyre plaint, and thus to the Staffordshire eyre of 1293. Many other such stray plaints survive in the SC 8 series (e.g. SC 8/116/5751-3).
