Nature of request
Burton and Hacun request remedy as the remainder of the silver due to them from King Philip has not been paid to them despite the king's letters to him. Leaving Flanders because of the war between King Louis and the people of Flanders their cargo of silver plate was seized at Calais and following an inquisition into the matter part of the silver was restored.

The process should be viewed in Chancery, and if it is thus then let a remedy be given to them by arrest or in another manner.

The petition dates to 1319 as the petition was answered by an order to the sheriff of York on 8 June to seize goods of the mane and merchants of the king of France to be kept until the petitioners had been satisfied (CCR 1318-23, p.83).
