Nature of request
Brome requests grace and remedy and that he is able to have his inheritance as it was occupied after his father's death by the earl of Lancaster who thought his father held by knight service, but he held in socage by the service of 1d. The lands and tenements are in the king's hand by the death of the earl.
Nature of endorsement
Faithful men are to be assigned in Chancery to enquire in the presence etc. of the truth of the contents in the petition, and whether the father of the petitioner held by the service of 1d. or by knight service as the petition supposes, and of other matters touching this, and the inquisition is to be returned and the king certified.
